New Hard Disk - How to restore using Acronis backups

My hard disk crashed (total loss) and the Geek Squad is going to install a new Mother Board and Hard Disk. I have full and differential backups (Aconis True Image Home 2009) on an external hard drive. The Geek Squad agent told me that the Acronis backups can not be used to restore the Vista Operating System, that the OS must be restored using the restore disk set that came with the computer, which will take a lot more time and effort. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to restore the Vista OS using the Acronis Backups? If yes, how do I do it?

It even has "Certified for Vista' logo. Yes, it's possible - boot from Acronis recovery cd and perform restore.
