new here but no idea what's going on
I have a trail version because I want to see how this works before I buy it. I want just to save my files from external hard drives onto a third drive and wanted software to help. If then I back that up to a cloud, great.
My issues are-
1- when I am backing up stuff it seems to go into one file, maybe a proprietary file type? I want all my files (music) as they were.
2- secondly when I purchase, how much cloup space do i get?
thanks!

Philip,
I believe ATI only uses a proprietary file type. I only use it for full backups of my PCs. I also have music and photos on external hard drives, and if one of them fails, I want to connect the backup drive and use it without any restores. For that reason I use a different product, which is free, to backup those hard drives.

sounds I like should do exactly what you're doing, Gary!

Many (all?) of the MVPs use multiple backup methods. In addition to ATI drive imaging, you could also use a file-based backup tool to do a backup of user data in its native formats. There are good file-based backup tools available such as Robocopy (command-line tool, free as part of Windows), Microsoft SyncToy (free download from MS), etc.
I do both True Image disk/system backups and file-based backups in Robocopy. Both types of backups are made to two external USB HD, which I use in rotation. Where my data are concerned, I like the security of belt and suspenders. :)
To learn how ATI works and how to use it, check out the many user guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum, particularly Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides which are illustrated with step-by-step screenshots.
In particular, 29618: Grover's new backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618
There's also a full on-line user manual, and a downloadable user manual.
