New tib file created after recovery

After successfully recovering a hard drive from a backup, a new tib file gets created in the backups folder with the same name as the original backup file but with a 2 before .tib - for example - "Marchbackup_full_b1_s1_v1-2.tib" when the original backup is just "...v1.tib". Why does this second file get created and what's it for?
