Newbie with 2 Issues.
We am evaluating True Image 2010 for client use. Here are our two scenarios;
Scenario 1) We've created a Split Archive and told it to validate the archive. We got no errors, so we assume it is all good. We looked all over for a log file, can't find it. We then tried a Manual Validate and it didn't run. We then scheduled a Validate, it ran but can't find the log files.
Question: Where are the log files stored and how does one access them?
Scenario 2) We created a boot CD with the recovery tools. We then burnt 3 DVD (hi quality, not Wal Mart stuff), with the above backups. We then booted a test machine (P4 3.6 GH, 1GB ram, USB 2.0, 1 CDRW (IDE:1:1), 1 DVD (IDE:2:1) and a 200 gb hard disk (IDE: 0:1).
We then booted the Recovery CD, that went well. We went to restore from backup, inserted the 3rd DVD into the SECOND (i.e. the DVD rom at IDE:1). It found the 3rd dvd as we believe it was supposed to. It asked us to insert DVD1. We did so and it keeps finding DVD3 (even though we confirmed the correct order of the DVD media).
We tried this on two other similarly configured systems with the same result.
So we tried another system with 1 DVD as a slave off the primary IDE port. Booted the media, then tried the same thing. It just seems to have problems when we swap the DVD.
Question: What are we doing wrong? We've printed the help docs and went through them "Very CarefullY'. We juist can't figure this out.
ps: We can restore fine from an FTP server, so that is a good sign.
Thanks all.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was actually surprised to get such a quick response.
I appreciate that a lot of swapping would be involved, so from a restore perspective, I have no problem with using an FTP source - it, of course is far faster.
With that in mind, I have another quesiton. Can I backup using an ftp connection?
Also, with regard to my 1st question, where do I find the log files?
Thanks again for the reply.
It is much appreciated.

I just happened to be on when you posted your question. ;-)
I've never used ftp but I believe it can be done. Do a dry run of the Backup process and see if there is an ftp option.
For the log files try looking in the folder where True Image is installed - you may have to drill down to a few sub folders.

Thanks DwnNDrty, I actually did that. Here is the folder layout for Acronis:
c:\prog..\acronis\trueimage...\ --->>> Just the app here
c:\prog..\acronis\trueimage...\common --->>> DLL's
I also checked:
...docs and settings\MYNAME\app data ---> NOPE,
Also: ...Local Settings\appdata... - NOPE.
When I get some time, I'll check the registry, but it is totally mistifying me. One would thnk that it would be fairly obvious.
Thanks again...
ps: will be trying an FTP backup tomorrow, will post...

WOW, now we are REALLY confused and dazed.
Last week we used a True Image resotoration from DVD and FTP. It worked no problems. Today, we were demoing this product for one of our clients (we have 22 schedueld over the next few weeks). Anyway, we booted the Recovery DVD. Made a connection to the FTP server (confirmed credentials). We then drilled down to where our backup was (remember, this worked last week).
We thought we had the process down lickity split. Well, NOT!
Here's what happened:
1) We pointed the recovery program to the first image in the set (1/3),
2) It grabbed the 3rd one - this still makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Tried as we may, we could not convince this thing to start with 1/3 or 2/3! I know there was a post previosly that essentially said it doesn't matter which order the recovery program grabs them in. In a way, this makes a little sense, because it is a sector backup. Anyway, it gets funkier,
3) When we chose the destination, said recover Signature and proceed,
4) It reported a "Corrupt Backup!" WOW, WOW, WOW; this was fine last week. And I tell you in all honesty, the backup set has not been touched. This is a dedicted server strickly for evaluating this product. Heck, it's not even on the InterWeb...
5) We inserted backup DVD1, it still wanted to load the one from the FTP site, even though we pointed it to the DVD,
6) After many "Backup is corrupt attempts", we appologized to our client and wen to work on this.
Next series:
1) Went to our WinXP machine, ran TH and connected to our FTP server,
2) We said let's look at backup 1 (of 3) and validate it,
3) Validated fine!. Now this is not good... One says "Bad", one says "Good"...
4) We tried to point to another one of the files in the set (3/3) created a validation task and noticed that even though we pointed it to another member of the set (3/3) it still validated 1/3!
5) Deleted these validation jobs, shutdown TH and restarted,
6) Created a New validation job (task), selected the 3rd file in the set (3/3) and it validated fine,
7) Tried to point it to the first one (1/3) in the set, it still used number 3 (3/).
This is really frustrating, not only did we blow a clients 1.5 hours (and we thought we had this down pat), but the recovery CD portions says it's "Corrupt", the "Validation Task" reported sucess (not withstanding the seleciton issues above).
At this point, our confidence in this product is very fragile and we were really getting excited about recommending moving all our clients from NovaStor to TH.
I hope someone can shed some light on all this, because we are not confident is using this for restoration.
Please advise, someone, please...
Thanks.
