Newbie question about backups.

Thread needs solution

Hi.

Just installed Acronis True Image Home 2010.

Can someone please suggest the best setting for my required backup plan:

* I want to backup my data files on an ad-hoc basis to a remote site.
* I want a a full backup, and uncompressed.
* I want to date/time stamp the root folder/file it creates.
* I want to easily change the source files every time.
* Is there a way I can save the task and later edit only to change:
a. the date/time stamp (to now).
b. the source files.

Many thanks.

Hello Ken,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

1) You can use Acronis True Image Home 2010 to backup data files as well as the whole drive or partition on an ad-hoc basis to any supported storage location.

2) By default Normal Compression level is used. You can set compression level to None and the image will remain the whole data backup size.

3) By default a current date adds to the backup. Alternatively you can create your own backup name adding @date@

4) For every files/folder/partition or a drive you want to backup you can create a specific schedule task or add an existing one, so you can easily edit the source files you want to backup. Regarding the change of date/time stamp I’m not sure if I understand you correctly. I suppose you want to save only the changes since last backup. Is it correct? If not please clarify the question.

In order to save only the last changes you can use incremental or differential backup archives. See the following article to read more about incremental and differential backups

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
