No option to create rescue media on USB

Thread needs solution

I have used Acronis True Image Home 2010 for many years, without many problems, using Windows 7, 8 and 10

Tools and Utilities in Acronis 2010 will not let me create a Rescue Media USB stick as this option is not shown in the availability list (only CDROM or ISO file shows).

I am using a desktop PC with a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard, an AMD FX-4300 Quad Core CPU and 8gb of RAM and Windows 10 upgrade directly from Microsoft.

Compatibility issues when using Windows 10 have been sorted via the Local Group Policy Editor, as follows:
1.    Press Win+R
2.    Run gpedit.msc
3.    Navigate to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Application Compatibility
4.    Enable both settings:
      * Turn off Application Compatibility Engine
      * Turn off Program Compatibility Assistant

I have also renamed the executable file from TrueImage.exe to TImage.exe as an added safeguard.

I also have a DELL STUDIO 1558 laptop which has no problem with the above mentioned Rescue Media option, as the USB is shown in the Create Rescue Media list.

Any ideas why I cannot get the USB option on my desktop PC?

Many thanks for any help or suggestions!!!

Mike, as I am sure that you are aware TIH 2010 is not supported for Windows 10 - only ATIH 2015 and 2016 are valid products for this version of Windows.

I understand that you have disabled the compatibility features of Windows 10 to get TIH 2010 to run but this does not guarantee that all features of the application will work given the underlying OS changes that have been introduced.

One option that you can consider is to try creating an ISO image and then converting that to USB using one of the tools that Bobbo advised in post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/115095#comment-340818 for another user in this forum.

Hello Steve

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have tried Rufus using an Acronis ISO, but it will not boot. Also XBoot and Pendrive, with similar results.

I think I'll stick with making a USB on my Dell Laptop where the USB Media option is available.

Thank you very much for your guidance, kind regards,

Mike
