"non stop backup" keeps stopping
I have w7 home and TI 2010. NSB worked for nealry a week. but today it won't run. I tried clicking start and it flips to on and right back to off. no reason given.
Just looking at the shortcut to start the program, run in admin mode is not checked. seems like it should be running in admin mode

I don't have any bluetooth stuff. I installed Ventrilo last night, but that shouldn't be a problem. and it was today when I started the computer that I saw the little popup.
Windows had a notice also in it's action center. It wanted to run it's spyware scan. I let it run. THen tried NSB again. It seemed to stay on, so I closed the window. But didn't see anything get added to the icon tray so checked and sure enough it said off again. I clicked it on and minimized the window and waited a moment. checked and it was back off. So now it seems to stay on for a short time, but then turns off again.

Just tried rebooting the computer and the icon is in the tray, but it sat for awhile saying prepairing to backup. then it turned it off. Icon is still there. I set up email notification, got nothing. It should at least say why it keeps shutting off!

Out of curiosity, what is the size of your Acronis "Time Explorer Storage" folder ? Mine has a problem when it reaches 100GB. You'll find this in the drive you selected as your storage location for NSB.

I've spent hours on this now but have made some progress, but first just for clarity, I am aware of three problems with NSB
1. Failure to create initial NSB partition image (Build 6029 & 6053)
2. NSB protection stopping/ turning off for no apparent reason
3. PC lockup, after indeterminate period of time - for me this only occured on Build 5055
The information below relates to (1) and may or may not relate to (2) - time will tell. I have experienced (2) but (1) for me is more fundamental!
I am now running SnapAPI v3.8.503 - although I think this is irrelevant as I'm running XP SP3.
I have pin pointed three folders that must be excluded from the NSB protection. Excluding these means that I am now able to run NSB and by this I mean that it completes the initial image creation and so far remains turned on.
Observations:
* All drives/ file system are error free - Full Chkdsk (five stages) without errors
* The three folders that must be excluded contain no open files
* The three folders are alphabetically consecutive and the drive containing them is defragmented.
* TI2010 Build 5055 comples the initial image creation without needing the folders to be excluded.
* I can see nothing unusual about these folders
The three folders are:
\Program Files\MSXML 4.0
\Program Files\MSXML 6.0
\Program Files\muvee Technologies
I'm guessing it is more to do with the physical position of the 3 folders on the disk than their names but once I'm convinced that NSB continues to run without issue I'll start
experimenting:
1) Copying the 3 folders to the same drive, different names
2) Rename the original folders
3) Rename the copied folders in (1) back to the original names
4) Remove the exclusions

I have a \Program Files (86)\MSXML 4.0 folder, but none of the others and I am running w7 x64. Also, my problem seems to be in reading the backup archive. It can't be read to do anything by acronis yet I can see the list of files in the folder from windows. I'm thinking acronis scrambled it's db index or something.

I spoke too soon. It looks like I can to the list of observed problems with NSB. AFCPDSRV is now running comstantly at 50% !
Im going to try a clean install, then give it up as a bad job I think.

Am having the same problem with Win7. Every time I start up I get a message telling me Non stop back up is switched off. Switch it on, close acronis tm - start it again and once again non stop backup is switched off.
Acronis TI 2010 installed
Windows 7 pro installed.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks - George

Non-stop back-up worked for a while (functioned normally). Now when it starts up, it says it's preparing to back-up then turns itself off. The back-up is to an external HD (which was also turned off for a while). - there is plenty of free memory and nothing has changed in the settings i.e. disk drives and letters still showing up correctly (The external harddisk has not been replaced it's the same one). When I press start it turns itself off again.
I can do a manual back-up to this drive.
Acronis 2010 is intalled together with window 7 home edition.

Hi everybody,
The NSB has started to do the same on my Win 7 64 bits. I have ATIH2011. On the repository "Time Explorer Storage", I check the properties of it and found two number that I think explain the problem.
First, the size of the repository is 124 Gig and the space taken by NSB is 113 Gig. So there is only 11 Gig of space free for NSB. But when I try to start it manually, the software indicate that it need 29.5 Gig to be synchronize. So there not enough space for him to work.
I will try to augment the size of the "Time Explorer Storage" or/and set NSB to keep only for six month at the time.
I will contact you after that to tell you if it work.

First of all, good day to everyone. I don't know if I am in the right place since there is a multitude of post about the NonStop Backup. I have the same problem. It start but then it turn itself off. Finally, to solve the problem, I looked at the "Time Explorer Storage". It seems that if the folder contain more than 100 Gig, NSB stop working. So, after verifying that all my files was OK on my HD, I deleted all the files in the repository on my external HD. Then I started ATIH 2011 and configure NSB as if it was the first time. Then the icon of NSB in the tray appears and stayed there. I restarted my computer and now NSB doesn't stop by itself.
Since this application (NSB) was one of the strong argument that decide me to buy ATIH2010, I am wishing that the support team will answer that problem, give an upgrade and try to make the forum with only one instance of that problem ans the link to solve it.
So, technical support, are you there?

Mario, the icon of NSB is always there, even when it is not doing anything. When you start NSB, after a little while, it will start doing a first backup of everything it has to protect. Then, it will create additional files, and overtime, fold these additional files in the main backup.

@Pat L
Thank you for that info. I didn't knew this one. But I must insist on the fact that if NSB need to create a backup of 100 gig or more, then it stop itself. In my laptop, NSB stop himself 1 minute after everything was loaded for Win 7 - 64 bits. It has nothing to do about the fact that the laptop was low in resources.
Everything was corrected after I delete all the file in the "Time zone Storage" and start NSB. That's were I am now.

Mario,
It looks like you are fine now. For complete protection, I would recommend you have a redundant backup on top of you NSB (a disk image), certainly for you system partition/disk.

Hi,
Once a month, I do a backup of my two partitions (C and D) and save them on my external HD with ATIH2011. It save my life once. It's so easy to do and priceless. Just wish that Acronis will do a Ubuntu Linux version.

I am having the same problem with Trueimage 2012 Update 2. It keeps stopping. Since this is 2013 and they just introduced 2014 (which I have not tried yet) you would think Acronis would have fixed this problem by now.
On my system (Windows 7 64 Bit) it keeps stopping for no apparent reason. I simply restart it and it runs for some time. According to my system the backup location has 282 GB used. The Source Location has 1.090 TB used. The backup drive is 2 TB.
My registry is clean, my system is up to date and fully functional for everything else, and I see no reason whatsoever that Acronis nonstop backup should stop when the first backup has not even completed - but it does.

I am new to this forum. I have the same problem described here BUT I have upgraded to Acronis 2014. These posts go back to 2009. One would think that Acronis would have fixed this problem. Regardless, does anyone have any newer information? I am running Win7 64 bit. Thanks

I know its a bit of a necro however I experienced this same issue with Acronis 2015
What will happen is the nsb will show as stopped or paused however when you attempt to restart it it will stop after calculating time remaining and stop.
It seems to be triggered most frequently as a result of explorer.exe crashing or being terminated and restarted by the user
if you go into computer management click on services and restart Acronis Nonstop Backup Service. I have found that this will allow the backup to resume normally without having to restart your whole machine. I am also guessing this should resolve the issue on most versions
I find that when a component of acronis stops responding for some reason the easiest fix is to simply restart the associated service
