Non-Stop Backup to Network Server

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm running Acronis True Image 2011. I used to run NonStop Backup but this didn't help when my SSD went down, so I've now rebuilt my system and bought myself a 4-disc NAS server. I want to run NonStop backup to the server so that I am bomb-proof in case of hardware failures again.

But Acronis will only list physical discs on the PC, not network locations, even if I map them or add a network location. Annoyingly, it will let me use network locations for normal backups, just not for NonStop Backup.

How can I get around this?

Alternatively, is it available in 2012 or 2013 and if so, is there an upgrade price or do I have to pay the full wack for a new copy?

I'm sure the answer is here, somewhere in the forum, I've looked, honest I have, but can't find it. So apologies for taking the easy route.

many thanks.

I don't use NonStop Backup, so I've never tried this. But, in general network locations work better with a direct path rather than a mapped location:

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

Yes, thanks for that, unfortunately it's a dead end. Let me explain my problem a little better than I did the first time.

If I try to make a "normal" backup then ATI gives me a list of my local hard drives but also gives me a browse option. Using browse, I can select a mapped drive or can go the long way via Network and find the server then find the volume and directory I want. It even lets me check credentials. I can type a UNC path in if I want to. I have all the options I could ever want to be able to save to my server. So far, so good.

But if I want to turn on NonStop Backup it doesn't give me a browse option or any way to put a UNC path in. Just a list of local hard drives.

At present, I've got NSB running on an old 500Gb IDE drive in a caddy, but I really want it to run to my safe, secure and rather expensive network server. Any ideas?
