Non Stop disk cleanup: Concern

I am concerned that if I choose to clean up last years backups on my nonstop backup drive that it will remove all the backups for that year even if that is the only backup for a given file. Please tell me that it will not indescrimantly delete all back ups for a given file for that year even if that is the last remaining back up of that file on the drive!
