Nonstop backup -- state of play?

Thread needs solution

I only installed TI 2010 a couple of days ago, and I had a horrible experience with non-stop backup. I attempted to revert my entire C:\ partition to a point earlier in the day via NSB. Big mistake! Once the computer had rebooted, the Acronis agent started with many error messages and wildly fluctuating estimates of how long the process would take. When the system finally rebooted I was hosed. There was no way I could boot into Windows and I ended up having to reinstall my system (I know, I should have made bootable media ...)
Even when restoring a regular tib image, Acronis agent opens with an error message about some file or other not being found (the message is onscreen for too short a time to read) but fortunately completes OK.
How can they offer software in such a shoddy and incomplete state?
My question as a newcomer to this version of the product is, what is the present state of play with NSB? Are they working on it? Is it wise to avoid it for the time being?
