Noob to Acronis True Image
I am not sure I can post like this in this forum, but I going to give it a shoot!
I going to start by telling all the steps I took so far and hoping other that have used this software before can tell me if I am doing it wrong or right.
1.First off I have the Trial for Acronis True Image.
2.I am letting the software at this time Back up,it says (1 of 2 creating partition Image)
I have a Mybook 300GB and was hoping to make my drive to it,but I guess this is out of the question? I know what a partition is,but the question I have will this slow down my PC?

Michael,
Spend some reading time. Click on my signature link below and digest the two items listed in item 7A. Also read the items listed under item 2. I t probably also be beneficial if you were to look at some of the topics listed and find those of interest. Lots of help can be found in this index for the new user. Welcome to the forum.
Protecting yourself begins with having the correct type backup--which is a backup which includes all partitions on your disk--both hidden and diagnostic as illustrated by these attachments.

Ok I seen what you posted.I was posting detail of every thing I have done with Acronis True Image.I was hoping someone would catch me doing something wrong and correct me on my part of undertsanding this software.
What I did in details
1.Download the trial Software.
2.2.I am letting the software at this time Back up,it says (1 of 2 creating partition Image)
3.Made a Acronis Media Builder bootable disk
Now I am protected? This is the only question I have for now. Before I use the Acronis Media Builder bootable disk I made. After I install my printing software,my cd burning software just to see if Acronis True Image works!

Whether you are protected depends upon
a. what type of backup you created. Did the backup include all your partitions which reside on the system disk? Windows Disk Management can display your partitions.
b. Have you performed test restores to see if your restore function works.

I did just what the software said to do! Here how I look at software. If says on the reviews of Acronis it is user friendly. I should not have to check anything on Acronis to make sure its good to go. Are you telling me this sofware is not user friendly? I typed the steps the software took. The software did these steps not me. Now you got me scared about this software! So just maybe I should look over everything.

In my opinion, I believe that TrueImageHome (TIH) is very user friendly. The more familiar you are with backup software, the easier you will find it to use. All backup software has a user learning curve and TIH is no different. Backup Software is designed to fit a wide range of users with a mix of different equipment. You cannot assume that the default settings do not need to be tweaked for your use.
But creating backups are only half the task. The second half is making sure that your recovery strategy will work and the only way to really prove that fact is to perform actual restores. In other words, you need to perform tests to assure that your combination of hardware is properly seen by TIH.
I have been using TIH for years and as I have used the software I have become more familiar with it. Your proficiency will be controlled by how much time you are willing to spend in learning how to use it. Just because it is user friendly, cannot be construed as you have all bases covered.
When you have a variety of choice in your options, it takes research by you to find out which of the options is best for you. Be reminded, I am non-paid volunteer to this forum and entitled to my own opinions. I happen to like the program enough that I am willing to offer my assistance on this forum. I want others to be able to protect their data and that takes learning how to do it.
In prior posts above, I recommended some links for you to investigate. I remind you of those links. As I suggested before, being able to recover from a disaster begins with having a backup which includes all partitions on your system disk. Failure to have a backup which contains all partitions on your system disk can often mean that you cannot successfully restore a defunct hard drive. Spend time doing research inside my index and it will be time well spent.
Good Luck with your learning experience.

Are their step to see if my back-up is their useing the software? I did mess around with the software,it says tools and Utilites.I opend it up,you scroll down where it says Mount Image, this lets you look at a image just like it is a disk. Then it take you to another on screen called Mount back up,you can see that it says Mount wizard. You can see what back up was made.As well it will tell you if their is a full back up. It does tell me I did a full back up!You are a nice person I can tell this, but you have high bloodpressure. I just maken sure I have doted my i and crossed my t..Cause in the pasted I had so many other programs to fail ! And I do not mind paying $50.00 for software that works!
