Not cloning disk after restart

Thread needs solution

So I'm trying to clone a 1tb HDD to a Crucial MX100 512gb ssd so I can put the ssd in my laptop replacing the hdd.
When I'm done with the setup process of cloning the disk and it prompts me to restart the computer to start cloning the disk. Afterwards it restarts back into windows and nothing's changed.
I can't 'insert your true image media' because when I got my ssd all it came with was a product key for the true image software and nothing else (well of course it came with the ssd as well).
I've done the same process about a million times and still no outcome

I downloaded a copy of Acronis True Image 2014, registered it, and could not believe I had to pay to clone one drive to another. I had a copy of EaseUS Partition Manager. It's free and I cloned my 640GB HD (with 420GB data) Windows 7 to a Crucial MX100 512GB SSD inside a USB case. Swapped SSD into the laptop, rebooted, shrunk boot partition, and enlarged data partition. EPM works great and again it's free.

by the way, the software download was included with the SSD, but registration only activates the trial copy, and nowhere does it mention some parts are crippled.

Cloning should be performed only after booting from the ATI bootable Rescue Media.

Also, a full disk mode backup and restore is much safer than cloning.
