"Not enough server storage is available..."

Thread needs solution

Installation of Acronis True Image Home 2010 on a networked computer (Windows XP) will result in a remote computer (seeking to access a mapped drive) receiving an error message stating "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" and denying the remote computer's accessing the networked computer. The successful solution,. widely published elsewhere on the Internet, is to complete remove the Acronis product.

Hello Richard,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you clear explanation.

The problem is that Microsoft Lanman Server has a fixed limit on the quantity of filters it supports. Since Acronis product installs some filters to work, the total number of filters can exceed the server's limit. The same problem may occur after installation of an Antivirus product and is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078

Please refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078 for a workaround (also applies to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008).

If you create the IRPStackSize value as described in Step 4 in the Microft article, the default value will be 15. It is recommended that you increase the value by 3.

Then reboot and see if it works. If it does not, increase the value by 3 again (to 21, for example) and reboot again. If you get to 50 and it still does not work, the issue is most likely not caused by the IRPStackSize value.

Let us know if the issue persists.

Dmitry and MudCrab,

Take a look at post 6047 because the problem is the same. The IRPStackSize value can be increased to 50 and you still are unable to access the computer running either TI-11 or TI-2010. As Richard said at the beginning this is a problem that is being experienced by a great number of Acronis users and the ultimate solution is to remove the product since everyone is getting no support on the issue. In fact I'm ready to go the same way as others and dump TI and start using Easeus Todo Backup which is getting good reviews and it works. You also might want to look at post 6019 if you haven't already because it's a real eye opener on Acronis products and how everyone feels about the support they are getting.

To all, a successful reistry changed allowed me to keep using Acronis.

I have just recovered my computer using TrueImage 2010 and afterwards had the issues of the "Not enough server storage etc".

Fixed it by adding the IRPStackSize DWORD hex value 30. I did not have to remove Acronis 2010. I only loaded this on the computer 2 days ago and experience all of the issues as outline in this forum post. http://winhlp.com/node/40. The example is in this forum.

I was using TrueImage 2008 prior to this AND 2010 was the ONLY change to the computer so it must have been the installation of TrueImage 2010.

If Windows XP SP3 has a default of 15 for this setting, adding the line and setting my value worked, but for many others in the winhlp.com forum it was not the solution

Hello

I could very happily continue to use Acronis Trueimage Home, but setting the IRPStackSize to its maximum value on the XP server machine doesn't help; it still goes unresponsive with not enough server storage error every month or so.

Would it be possible to somehow prevent Acronis access to shared network drives on Windows 7? If that was possible, would it work as a workaround?

ACRONIS MUST ACCEPT THE RESPONSOBILITY TO ADD A PATCH FIX TO ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE HOME 2010. CLEARLY IT IS ONLY THIS CHANGEPOINT IN SOFTWARE THAT HAS CAUSED THE PROBLEM NOT MICROSOFT.
WHEN WILL ACRONIS PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEM PROPERLY. WE HAVE SPENT OUT HARD EARNED MONEY FOR AN UPGRADE THAT HAS A SEVERE BUG.

MIKA TAKALA HAS DONE THE IRPSTACKSIZE 'COP-OUT' FIX TO THE MAX DWORD VALUE AND IT DOES NOT WORK.

PLEASE ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE A PROPER SOFTWARE PATCH/ UPDATE BUILD TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT DID NOT EXIST IN THE OLDER VERSIONS OF ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE HOME.
