Thread needs solution

Does anyone know how I can clone a FAT32 disc to NTFS and have it remain NTFS? I can't figure this out.

David,

The easy answer is you can't! BUT..........

First what exactly are you trying to do? By that I mean, what or why are you needing/wanting to clone a drive? I ask just in case you are trying to use cloning, when something else might be more appropriate.

As a clone makes an exact copy of a drive, you will replace whatever is on your new drive formatted with NTFS with whatever is on your old drive formatted as FAT32. Therefore your new drive will end up as FAT32 as it will be a direct copy.

Assuming cloning is exactly what you are intending, then if you are running XP or later, there is a Windows utility included with all OS' of XP and above that will convert your FAT32 system to NTFS without destroying any data.
