Number of operations to complete a ATIH2011 clone

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am cloning a 1TB drive with two partitions (C: NTFS approx. 980 GB, and D: FAT32 approx. 20 GB) to another drive of the same size installed in an external USB enclosure.

This cloning operation when finished took approx. 24 hours(!) and nine ATIH2011 'operations' to complete! Watching the process from the startup screen, I see the 'copy partition' function ran twice for each partition (took approx. 11.5 hours x 2 = 23 hours for copying the C: drive, and about .5 hrs x 2 for the D drive).

Is it normal for this 'copy partition' operation to have to run twice for each drive letter, as I don't recall seeing this behavior in past Acronis TI versions?

Note that the whole drive was cloned "as is" with no re-sizing of the partitions, and the clone seemed to complete without errors although it was very slow.

I'm using ATIH 2011 Update 1 v6597, Win XP SP3, 3GB RAM, and a dual core processor.

Thanks.

Hello John,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here. Thank you for finding time to share your concerns with us, I appreciate it, and will be glad to address them.

The clone operation speed depends on several circumstances, so it is unlikely, but possible that clone operation of 1 Tb takes so long. The fastest way of proceeding with clone process is to use the bootable CD (perform the cloning process offline), which allows to avoid interaction with Windows and additional CPU load.

Currently the most important question is whether the drive was cloned properly. Could you please check whether all the cloned data is available, or if you cloned the system drive, unplug the source HDD and boot from the target)?

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
