OEM catastophe

Thread needs solution

I have an old OEM version of true image on my Carillon Music Pc.
Recently i tried 2013 version. But immediately on booting up i had the fatal error boot partition not recognised. I can boot on into windows. I removed 2013 and did a sys restore but the problem is still there. Is there something i can try. If i remove OEM will i lose all my backups etc.
Anyone offer any help please?
I still have the early version of OEM on the pc. And removed all traces of 2013. What can i try to get it running again without losing stuff?

Is there a way to get rid of the bootloader error message even as the carillon will carry on after pressing enter into windows?

I know this error happens before booting into Windows, but, is there any way for you to take a digital photo of the error and post it here for review.

Can you describe exactly what the screen looks like, and the exact wording of the error?

If you install 2013 and then removed it, the OEM version more than likely will no longer work until you re-install the OEM version again.

Did you purchase the 2013 version as an upgrade or did you purchase 2013 as a new full version? Only difference is the price and type of serial number used (upgrade or full version).

Hello and thanks for your replying.
The error occurs as soon as the post cheques at e done. It used to say that loading across ronis press f11.now it stops with the message Acronis boot loader fatal error boot partition. If you provide ess enter it goes on into windows ok.
I left oem on the pc and installed a trial of 2013. I rebooted after the trial had asked me to reboot and then I got this message. So I removed 2013 did a restore but now this message appears at boot.

Incidentally the PC is made by Carillon and is an AC1. It came with Acronis True Image OEM pre installed. The version is 9.0.3577.
The C drive is partitioned. On a whim I thought Id try version 2013 .
I did not remove the OEM version but merely installed 2013 trial. WHen i went for reboot the error appeared Acronis Boot Loader fatal error boot partition. Pressing Enter continues to load windows and it functions normally. IM stuck as to what to do now. I removed 2013 before i even tried it and tried 2 system restores at variable dates but to no avail.
How cam i repair this to work again. Can i hide or remove the message so it goes straight to windows. WOuld removing OEM and installing 2013 remedy this.
I would have to purchase 2013 fully. I do not have OEM disk for my current version as it came preinstalled with my system.

Cheers for any help...sorry to sound repetitive but its driving me insane

Cheers n Beers

The actual wording of the error is.

acronis loader fatal error boot drive (partition) not found

thanks

The error message is due to the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager installation (from the OEM version) being damaged by the 2013 installation. This is the part of Acronis that prompted you to press F11 at boot.
If you can still run the OEM version of True Image, check to see if it has the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager option. If so, activate the option, and then de-activate the option. This should remove the error at boot time.

Lewis, James,
It sounds like the ASZ or Start Up and Recovery Manager was/is enabled, and did not get updated or removed properly when the newer version of ATI was installed and/or removed. These are the only two "boot time" features I can think of. ???

hello guys
Thanks for your responses. The OEM version is still on the computer and when i start recovery manager it asks me to create a partition. However that part fails with a RPC failure error. RPC server unavailable

sorry shadowsports what is ASZ?
if i run recovery manager it prompts me to create a partition for i presume Acronis secure zone. The Hard disk is partioned and i select D to create the partition for the secure zome but it fails with a red cross error failed to create the scheduled task. Error 1722. The RPC server is unavailable.
So James im not able to create now an ASZ so i cant turn it off and on or in fact find how too.
I really need to avoid corrupting the hard disk as i have so much music info on it ..or being in the postion where the PC wont boot at all. At least at the moment i can get into windows albeit True Image aint working now.
Im hoping ypu guys can come up with a solution that works.
Would i create headaches removing OEM from the PC and install 2013?..
Sorry guys Im a real newb at this

regards

Acronis Startup Recovery Manager does not need a partition. It is only used to enable pre-Windows boot Acronis recovery via F11. This is done by modifying the boot code (which turns on the F11 message) and adding a hidden folder called bootwiz to your OS drive, containing some code (ASRM.bin) to start up True Image before Windows loads. In the non OEM versions of True Image, you can enable and disable this feature without using Acronis Secure Zone (ASZ). If you created a 2013 Rescue Disk while you had 2013 installed, you could boot to the 2013 Rescue Disk and use the tool included to first enable the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager, and then disable it. This will write new boot code and enable the F11 message again, and then disable the F11 message and remove the Acronis added boot code returning the system to normal boot.

If you registered the 2013 trial serial number on Acronis online, you can download the 2013 trial Rescue Media ISO disk image and create a bootable 2013 trial Rescue CD/DVD to use for this purpose, if you didn't create Rescue Media when you had the 2013 trial installed.

Lewis,
You are getting excellent advise but can we take a couple steps sideways for a moment.

1. Which version of Windows?
2. What size and model number of hard drive, or at least the approximate size?
3. Is the hard drive type SATA or IDE

4. When the computer was working properly, do you have a full and complete backup of all partitions which was done either with the TrueImage 9 CD or with TrueImage 9 installed into Windows? It does not have to be the most current but it has to be a full and complete backup of everything. It could be used to restore your computer and then restore the more recent backup onto a working system.

4a. If you think so but not sure, the TI 9 CD does provide special custom methods to adjust which info columns are displayed so you can see the partition number Starting and ending sectors, etc for each *.tib backup file under consideration. With this partitin information (not normally seen), it helps to identify which partitions were included in the backup and their postions. Advise if you want more info on how to see your partition information stored inside your backups, please advise.

5. If the answer to #4 is yes, have you tried to do a "disk option" restore of everything on the old drive or have you considered recovering to a new blank drive? If the data content of your computer is impoortant, working with a new disk could offer you a new approach to getting your computer back like it was.

5a. Here is a recovery guide applicable to your TrueImage 9 but its use is predicated on you having a full and complete backup available.

Note: I am assuming that the oem version 9 is similar to the final standard version 9, build 3666

hello all and thank you for trying to help me sort this.
1. James..sadly although I overwrote OEM with trial of 2013 i removed it before i even opened it. So i have no disk to try.

2. Grover

Windows XP home SP 3 2002
The hard drive is partioned. I think its a Samsung HD080HJ
c total 24.4 GB d total 47.6 GB approx
i believe that the HD is IDE
THe PC was supplied as a music computer with everything installed. I do not have any disks for True Image as its an OEM version. I have its serial but Acronis tell me its no longer supported.
The only TIB backups i made were in 2006.
I desperately want to avoid having to lose my C drive as it has so many links up to another 3 external Hard drives. Because i can still use the PC once i get past that error prompt im really nervous about perhpas deinstalling True image and Oem and just installing a full version of 2013.
The version of oem seems to say its build 3577.
Am i lost to think that i cannot remove the existing OEM version and just install 2013 and things will return to as they were . because lots of the previous software things i saved I no longer use and have been replaced with better or newer versions the old TIB backup i made in 2006 will be no good to me. I hope u kinda understand my dilemma

Thanks again. Seems to me ATM i will have to live with it unless theres a simple non destructive work around to sort it out

cheers

Lewis

If you registered (or register now) the 2013 trial serial number on Acronis online, you can download the 2013 trial Rescue Media ISO disk image and create a bootable 2013 trial Rescue CD/DVD to use for removing the boot loader error message generated by the F11 Acronis Startup Manager corruption. This is normally non-destructive, but there is always a risk when writing to a hard disk.

Go to: https://www.acronis.com/my/index.html and sign in, or create a new account and sign in. Enter your serial number for the 2013 trial, or request a new 2013 trial. Once you obtain your 2013 trial serial number, register the serial number and download the Rescue Media ISO (bootable media). You do not need to install the 2013 trial to create and use, the 2013 trial Rescue Media.

If you have already registered the 2013 trial serial number into your account, go here to get the 2013 trial ISO:
https://www.acronis.com/my/download/?ATIH2013_trial_en-US.iso

If your system does not have software to burn an ISO to a CD/DVD correctly, Imgburn www.imgburn.com (freeware/donationware) is a good utility for that purpose.
See here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

An additional option would be to purchase 2013 (since you have a serial number of v9, you are eligible to purchase 2013 at the upgrade price), and register the serial number online. You could then download the full Rescue Disk ISO and create a 2013 full featured Rescue Disk to use to back up you system as it currently is installed, before making any more changes to your disk. You would not need to install 2013 to perform a full backup of your system using the bootable Rescue Disk. Since you have externally connected disk(s), you could save the full disk backup image to a folder on your external drive in case of possible disk corruption from the procedures outlined here to correct the boot loader error messages, and have a current full backup of your system as well.

2013 can read and restore from backup files made in earlier versions as long as they are not corrupted - (validation can be performed on them to be sure).

If you do decide to purchase the 2013 version, and eventually wish to install it, there are some additional preparation steps to perform on your system prior to installing it since you have a broken OEM copy installed at this point.

Hi james

Thanks again for your input. Is there no easy non destructive way in which OEM can be removed or even repaired?
I will make a disk image before i try anything anyway.
and following on you mention additional preparation steps before installing 2013 over a broken OEM version..what are they?
