one incremental backup seems to have failed sandwiched among all other successful ones

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image Home 2010 running on a Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop and have been using Acronis for many years and doing daily scheduled backups of my data files. Recently the backup log for one incremental backup showed only 10 of 12 stages in the backup. The first 10 stages included starting of the process, analyzing various partitions, changing priorities, locking partition and finally #10, "Create Incremental Backup Archive" All of the other backups included stage 11, "Validate Backup Archive Location" and 12, "Operation has succeeded."

I assume that the safe course is to delete the log entries and backup files and start over. But this issue might recur. Has anyone run into this? If I were to leave the one file as is and continued with subsequent backups would I then be able to properly restore the backups

It is probably because the after-backup validation option has been checked in the meantime. When it is checked, each backup adds the validation right after it is completed.

YOu don't need to delete or restart if your backups are validating well.

Just be careful not to have too many incremental backups. You have to imagine you might have to use only the last full backup if, for any reason, one of the increments gets compromised. With this in mind, look how old your last validated full backup is. If it is too old for your comfort, choose shorter incremental series before a new full backup.
