Online backup -- 3 days to complete
I just purchased True Image 2010 and did an online backup. It took 3 days to do the backup (approx 4GB of data) and I have the program set to run every 4 days. One thing that concerns me is, there is no option for an incremental backup, so it could potentially take another 3 days to do a full backup. I am on a DSL connection with 896 kbps upload speed.
Anyone used this option or have any suggestions? Thanks.

I am a beginner on this like you and have just upgraded to TI 2010. I am just trying to get to grips with Online backup, but as I understand it, the incremental element of which you speak is actually built in. After the initial backup only changes (or new files) are backed up. So subsequent backups should take much less time.

With external hard disk now cheap. This has got to be the way to go not on line storage.
On line storage is just added risk, too slow and more expensive. It is only a few months since the Acronis servers were off line for 2 days and you could not down load the latest build. Imagine not having access to your backed up data for 2 days.
The Online Backup is just this years Bloatware. Think big picture.

I would agree with that! Also, what happens to your online backup storage when the vendor goes out of business? I don't have a lot of sensitive date to backup but I would prefer to store it on my own backup HD rather than on an online source.

Accepting the points about extreme slowness and the general downside of Online storage, I don't think that we need be utterly dismissive. Might there not be SOME merit in using both? I wouldn't dream of making Online storage my first or main line of defence, but if my house was flooded or burned and I lost the computer and my ext_HDD and my recovery media, I would at least have the consolation of knowing that my DATA might still be safe. My data is not "sensitive" but it has taken years to create and I would be very sorry to lose it. At the very least it seems to me that OLB is just one more line of protection.

Agreed, I like the idea of an online backup (I also have a 500GB external drive) and with Acronis it was relatively inexpensive ($20 for 25GB). The slowness, however, was unacceptable; but I will see if the incremental backup will speed things up. I also like the fact there is a near continuous backup option, especially for my wife's home-based business emails .... Thanks.

I don't know enough about Acronis' online backup service to trust it. I image to both a networked drive and a removable external HDD, but I also use an online backup service to back up the ATI image once ATI creates it (in case my office burns down). I think it cost me $20-$30 per year to store up to 8GB. I keep 3-4 generations of ATI full backups, and the upload takes place in background (and seems to take less than 45minutes for a 50MB .tib file). There are many onling backup services with solid reputations, mirrored sites, and easy restore from anywhere you can get online.
For me this is, frankly, overkill: my HDD goes with me when I leave the computer. I'd really have to have some major catastrophe to crunch both the computer and the removable HDD.
