Operating system clone

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 9.0 on my Dell 4550. I also have
an old Dell 4100. I ordered a new hard drive for the 4100 and
was going to install it in the second bay and then clone it.
Due to not having some of the necessary components, I am not
going to be able to do that unless I put in some work on the
4100. I thought that I might just put the new hard drive in the
4550 and clone it. There is just one problem. The new hard drive
is only 80g and I have over 100g on the 4550. Is there a way
to just clone the operating system on the new drive?
I was looking at Acronis and I didn't seem to find a way. It
could be that I don't kno what I am looking for to start with.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

There is no way to just clone the OS. You would need to actually remove the excess files from the drive to get the size down. Be aware than cloning a drive on a computer other than the target computer may not be successful when it comes to booting. For example, cloning Computer B's drive on Computer A may not allow Computer B to boot properly from the drive.
