P2V - Windows Virtual PC and True Image Home 2010 (with Plus Pack)
I own Acronis True Image Home 2010 with the Plus Pack (with universal restore).
I created an image of a physical XP machine, and I'd like to virtualize it and run it in Windows Virtual PC on a Windows 7 PC.
Here is what I have tried:
1. Create a new virtual PC with a fixed size hard disk 10GB bigger than the original disk.
2. Create an .iso of the Acronis Rescue Media.
3. Start the virtual PC with the .iso loaded.
4. Boot to Acronis and do a universal restore.
--this is where i run into problem. The first couple times i tried to run Acronis, it showed an obscure error and the virtual PC just turned off. I finally got Acronis to run from the rescue media, however, when browsing for the image to restore, the Virtual PC just turns off unexpectedly.
It seems as though Acronis Rescue Media is not compatible with Windows Virtual PC. Can this be confirmed or denied?
Is there any other way to do a P2V universal restore with my physical image?
I've already tried just converting the .tib to a .vhd, but that did not run in Virtual PC because of drivers issues (wouldn't even boot up Windows XP).
Thanks for the help,
Brady
