Partition Backup Switching to Sector-by-Sector Backup

I have a laptop with both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Ultimate installed on. I have Acronis Backup 2014 installed on both installations, and it has previously worked properly. My backups are Custom, Full for the two Windows partitions, and the last backup image was 21 GB to a data partition with 179 GB free. Now attempting to backup from either OS the backup fails with not enough room. From the log it says there was a warning for "Forced sector-by-sector" mode, and it's trying to backup the two Windows partitions in sector-by-sector mode, even though that option is not checked.

I also see a warning for "Sync Agent Service error. Try to restart your computer", which of course changes nothing, same error after rebooting. I've checked Windows Services, and the Service is running. This error was not previously in the log.
