Partition configuration has changed -error
When cloning my hard drive to an external one I always get an error message "partition configuration has changed". This only happens once so that when I immediately try cloning again it works fine. This is obviously not a big problem, but always booting one extra time is a bit annoying.
At first I though this was a Vista related problem, but now I have updated to Windows 7 and the problem persists.
How could this problem be solved?

I can see that other people did read it, but I think the reason they didnt respond might be because you said it works after rebooting. With the bottom line being that it is working, and just an annoyance.
What ATI version and build are you using?
Were you using the Acronis Linux based environment when you performed the clone?
Before using ATI to clone your drive, did the external hard drive have any partitions on it?

Janne:
Are you leaving the clone disk connected after the clone completes? If so, the cloning process creates a clone with an identical Disk Signature. If you boot Windows with two disks having identical disk signatures, WINDOWS will change one of them. When the Disk Signature changes, the disk's partition IDs stored in the registry will change and then Windows will detect the partition(s) as new and will install new generic volume drivers for them.
If this is a correct description of what you're seeing then you should expect this behavior. It's normal for Windows to complain about having two identical disks attached.

Thank you for your help!
James:
I'm using version 11.0 (build 8 101).
No, I just use disk utilities clone disk.
Yes, it has an old clone of the same drive and I choose to remove the partitions.
Mark:
Usually I disconnect the clone before booting, but sometimes I've left it attached in order to check if the clone looks right. I haven't seen Windows complaining about the identical disks though, if that would be a separate complaint from the one I get.
I'm sorry I'm not certain how to answer you, perhaps a description of the sequence I use could answer you:
1) Connecting the external (USB) hard drive (that has an old clone on it)
2) Starting ATI and choosing to clone the computers hard drive to the external drive and destroying old partitions
3) Reboot follows and check fails to "partition configuration has changed" (I would think this is an ATI message, not Windows, as the first checks always go ok)
4) Computer shuts down when any key is pressed
5) Keeping the external USB attached I turn on the computer again, run ATI cloning and everything works just fine
All help is appreciated!
br Janne

Do you get the error if you delete the partitions from the USB drive before you start TI and the cloning process? For examle, start Disk Management and delete the partitions from the USB drive, then start TI and do the cloning. Note: If you try this, make sure to delete the partitions on the correct USB drive.
