Partly corrupted disc should be backuped

Thread needs solution

Can we use Acronis to backup a partly corrupted disc?

Hello to all from germany

we bought acronis for a xp-maschine and wanted to make a backup.

We didn't know that there might be corrupted sectors.
The PC runs very well. All programs work correct.

But when we want to make an image-backup, the PC breaks together with a blue screen.
We are quite shure, that there are errors on the disc. They might be on places, that aren't in use in normal operation. But acronis touches them, when making an image and we allways get the blue screen.

We've to backup the System to exchange the disc. But how can we do that?

We've to work around the corrupted sectors.
Does someone has an idear?

The problem is that you didn't make a backup before the hdisk went south. You can try running chkdsk /r to mark off the bad sectors or you can try doing a backup telling ati to ignore bad sectors.

If that doens't work, then you can try backing up selected files, but you won't get the OS or programs that way.
