PC with cloned image fails to boot after a period of time - black screen of death

I am cloning a Windows SATA hard drive to other PCs of the same type & configuration using the following process:

to create the image I do the following:
· boot the machine to be cloned using the Acronis bootable media disk
· clone the drive to an external USB hard drive of the same size

To clone the image to another PC of the same type and same disk size:
· boot the machine to be cloned using the Acronis bootable media disk
· clone the external USB drive to the internal SATA hard drive (the same size as the external USB drive)
· Reboot several times without any problems

Problem: after a period of time (several days sometimes) the cloned machine becomes unstable and when it boots will only display the black screen of death. I have not found any bios settings or changes I can make that will allow the machine to boot into Windows.

Any suggestions on how to fix or avoid this issue are welcome!
