PC crashed during backup; now it won't backup

Thread needs solution

During a recent backup, my Windows 10 desktop crashed.  Now Acronis is complaining it the TIB it's accessing isn't the latest or something like that.  After a few minutes, it fails and then restarts--only to do the same thing.

Is the backup set toast?  Or can I recover it somehow?

Will, please download a copy of the Log File Viewer app and check to see what messages are being posted in the task log(s) for your backup.  You are welcome to post a copy of the log file if you need help understanding the content.

Hi Will,

I imagine the backups in the set, up to the point of the last backup are still fine (was this an incremental or differential).  What happens if you attempt to mount or double click on the backup prior to the one before the system crashed?  If you have a spare or extra drive, I would remove the original (for safe keeping), insert the new one and attempt a restore to it to see if the backups prior to the crash are usable (which they should be).  If all is well, you may just have a corrupted backup task.  In that case, I would hold onto the old backups, delete the backup task in Windows adn start with a new one and start with new backups (please use a unique name though and not the same one as the existing tasks as that can confuse the application too - either that or move the old backups somewhere else).

The logviewer app may shed some light on the actual issue though, so would also recommend giving it a shot as Steve mentioned.
