Perplexing Bootmgr problem - hope someone can help!!

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

First off, let me say that I've read the posts at http://forum.acronis.com/forum/7487 which has given me some valuable info, but here's my problem.

After a full restore using Acronis Restore on a memory stick (H:), I have a working laptop again. However, I've found that the computer won't boot up unless the mem stick is present (I get the BOOT MGR is missing error)

I've taken the advice and copied the folder 'BOOT' from my H: mem stick to the root of my C: drive, but I cannot find the file BOOTMGR anywhere on the H: drive (so obviosly I can't copy it to my C: drive.) C: is an active partition, and view hidden/system files is on. The files I have in my H: drive are as follows:

I'm pretty sure my problem will be solved by copying BOOTMGR to the C: drive, but where is it??

I hope someone can help!

Miles,

Do you restore the image to the same disk it was taken from?

If not, does your laptop boot with UEFI / GPT or BIOS /MBR? Note that if you don't have a 64bit Vista or Windows, then it is necessarily BIOS/MBR...

If yes, then note that sometimes users don't include the active System Reserved partition, present on most Vista/Win7 systems, or don't mark the active partition "active" when they restore it.

If you are certain you did this right, you can use the Windows installation DVD to fix you boot issue.
