A personal opinion about Acronis software
I have been using Acronis as my backup solution for quite a few years now. I have something to say that I have been wanting to say for some time, but I always said to myself, "eh, what's the point... if you don't like it, Change!"
Here is what I have to say: If there is a more unintuitive piece of software on the planet, than Acronis Backup Software, then I have yet to encounter it.
That's it. I don't need any help. I'll probably continue to slog along with it, probably even upgrade... but not because I like it. I'm just too lazy to do any more research, and change it.
I will be specific about the following, which is one of the things that I hate most about it: There are numerous operations that I might click on (or, maybe, hover over, hoping for a tooltip that gives me an explanation), but the impression that I get is that once clicked, there's no going back. A perfect example of this is, under My backups, if you click on 'operations', there are a couple of choices, "remove from list", and "delete". Well, both of those are ambiguous. "remove <WHAT> from list"??? A scheduled backup? A backup file?, what? And "delete" is just as bad... and how is it different from "remove from list"??? They both sound like 'delete' to me... when I remove something from a list, I have deleted it, haven't I? So, I won't click on either of those because I don't know what they mean. Even though I am desparate to figure out how to remove outdated backup sets from within Acronis... Instead, I will just go to the directory and delete them manually, even though I know that Acronis has an internal list of some sort.
Now, don't bother answering the question above. It is unlikely that I will look in on this forum again for a very long time, if ever. Just FIX YOUR AMBIGUOUS and UNINTUITIVE SOFTWARE. I mean, really, backups are not that hard to manage.
Goodbye.
