please help don't know what to do

Thread needs solution

I'm using true image home 2012, my external hard drive is full, I'm getting a message that I must delete files on the external drive or add another external hard drive to do backups. is there a way to auto set the program so my hard drive does not fill up. I don't know what to do. I don't want to delete any files alums sure I know what I'm doing. Could someone let me know how to do this and if what ever the pros and cons would be to doing this. I really can't afford another external hard drive.
Thank you

I recommend that you create a new backup task, setting a limit on amount of backups either by total number of backups, total disk size of backups, or date of backups. Once a limit is reached, each execution of the task will create a new backup and delete a backup depending on your set options.

MVP Grover recommends setting a limit based on number or date of backups, as he's seen instances when the total disk space limit fails. I've used a total disk space limit for backup tasks on several PCs and never had a problem, so you decide.

Check out the many user guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum, particularly Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides which are illustrated with step-by-step screenshots.

Tuttle thank you, but this stuff is way beyond me. might you be as kind to point me to the line i need to read or if you don't mind could you show me what to do here. if i were to create a new back up do you mean to out and get a new external drive to back it up to? and then you lost me from there. about the number or date back ups, WAY past my knowledge base. you are so kind to try and guide me and im sorry I'm now getting it.

Please spend some time reading the guides I mentioned. They will help you not to feel so lost.

You would create a new backup task, to save backups to a new folder on the external backup drive. You do not need a separate external drive. You can backup multiple PCs to a single external drive.
