Please help me, long time user suddenly head scratching :-)
I backed up the contents of my old wd 320gig hard drive onto an external hard drive using acronis one click backup.
I then installed a new wd 320gig hard drive and booted from the acronis bootable rescue media so that I could simply restore my system. Anyway the restoration was a success but for some reason I cannot boot into windows 7.
While the bios recognizes my new drive, windows does not and ask for the driver. A trip to WD support explains that the drivers are actually built into the microsoft operating system and they don't have them for download.
The error message I am getting is Oxc0000225 and any attempts to repair windows fails.
I have tried restoring a second time around and making sure I restored with the correct settings ( been a user of Acronis for about 4 years now so I pretty much know what I'm doing ) but once again it does succeed at copying all the files to the new hard drive but cannot boot into windows.
I have checked in bios and made sure that the hard drive is set correctly to boot into windows but the error message persists.
I can use the acronis bootable rescue media to search my new drive and all the old contents from the hard drive are fully there. So just can't work out why its not booting into windows.....

The latest version. I guess the new one click backup feature may be the culprit. I'll take another image manually this time and see if I have better luck. The two drives are pretty much identical, though the external drive is only 160GB. However my system is only using about 50GB of data at the moment so that shouldn't be a problem.

Ryan,
Please click on my signature link below and read item 7-L inside the link.
Your problem is that one click only backups your drive C and does not include all you need to boot to a new drive.
Use the instructions provided by MudCrab to create a disk option backup to include everything.

Still no luck with the boot manager missing on a restart and windows unable to fix any errors.
The hard drive however started to make hiccuping sounds and when I formatted it and tried to install windows 7 from the windows disc, it got half way through before reporting corruptable error messages.
Also sometimes bios would detect the hard drive and then when rebooted, it wouldn't.
Looks like the computer store sold me a return, should have picked up on it when they told me it was the last one in stock....
