Is this possible?

Thread needs solution

Hi-I have had a good look around on the forum and at the manual too but cant seem to find out what I need to know. I run Dataton Watchout display systems and it is very important that all my display pcs are the same in terms of drivers , configuration etc. Until now I have been doing this manually but it is very tedious. Someone suggested I use cloning software so here I am.
What I would like to do is prepare one of my display pcs then copy it to an external usb drive which I can then use to plug in to the other machines and have them load that image so they are all exactly the same.Is this possible? Would I have to install Acronis on all the pcs? Or would I have to remove the drives from each machine and attach them to the first one?
Also is there a way to do this without installing the software on the pcs? These machines are used in live shows and it is important I have as little as possible installed on them so as to avoid problems.
I would really appreciate any advice. The software sounds good but I need to know if what I want to do is possible.
Many thanks
Neil

Yes you can clone one disk to another. You can put the disks in an external enclosure, and boot the computer on the Acronis recovery CD to completely take windows out of the process. At this point, the host computer just acts as a big pipe between the 2 disks.

Hi Pat-thanks for your reply.
Each machine has two sata drives. Is it possible to clone to an external usb then attach the usb drive to the next machine and load that image from the usb drive?
that way I will always have a drive with the image on it then if I have a problem i can load it on to any machine. Is this possible or am I asking too much!

You can go 2 ways:
- a clone: that will create a copy of the original disk that you can put in place in the target system and use immediately. The cloning operation needs to be created for each new disk. The cloning operation is done by booting the source/cloning computer on the recovery CD (1 step operation).
- an image: that will create, well, an image of the original disk. You create the image once, and then you would need to boot the "recovery" computer on the recovery CD to recover the image on it (2 step operation).
