Possible Trojan Infection
Hello:
I have reason to believe that Acronis 2010+Pack is infected with Generic17.CLGG.
How can I confirm if this is true? It seems to re-appear even after I have done a system restore.
The Trojan has been reported in other files as well.
Thanks

This has not happened previously.
AVG 9.0.819 had flagged it. It also was reported in several other programs and areas of the computer as well.
I got Avast 5.0.545 and ran it in full scan mode and then in Boot mode. It did identify the 17.CLGG as well as some others. The removal, seems to have taken care of the problems. As of this moment neither is reporting any problems.
I had done 2 full backups with Acronis and when the problem first surfaced I restored from the most
current backup, and the problem was back. Not knowing if it was already present in that backup or
if it was 'hiding' elsewhere - I chose not to go to the first backup.
What first alerted me to a possible problem was the activity window in ZoneAlarm. It was showing
activity when there should have been little or no activity.
All this brings up another question: Is it possible to have the AV's scan the backup archives to determine
if there is any potential problems stored in them?
Thanks

I haven't used AVG for a long time, but it should treat an image file exactly the same as any other file, except it will take longer as the image file is compressed.
If your system is clean when the image is performed then your image should also be clean. One place were some nasties hide is in the Windows System Restore folder, some A/V's don't include this folder(s) in their scan as they are special folders.
