Post upgrade

Thread needs solution

I've upgraded from 2009 to 2010, should I delete my 2009 backups (external HD) and recovery disc & redo every thing With 2010? Thanks Eric.

Hello Eric,

Let me shed some light on your concerns.

  1. There's no need to delete backups created with version 2009 of Acronis True Image, they're fully compatible with the latest Acronis True image Home 2010. Please check backup archives compatibility list for more details.
  2. However, we do recommend you to create a new bootable disc, since it has some new hardware drivers and modern devices support.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

hi Eric, just to add to Ilya's post - what I do is restore any backups I deem to be of some value to use and then make a new image using the latest version.

This saves me time in the future apart from giving me something to do! More importantly in my opinion is that we should never rely on our stored magnetic backups to last more than a few years, so renewing backups is always a good idea (especially of things like our photos and videos).

Having said that I have been able to 'recover' system backups from 5 years ago using TI and from 10 years ago using Winzip from DVD's, which I tried out of interest. But I would not rely on them - I keep the discs anyway!
