Previous versions of a file (Versioning)

Thread needs solution

Hi, does anyone know how many previous versions Acronis Online Backup will store per file?

And do they get deleted after 30 days or anything?

Thanks

Hello Rob,

Let me help you with your question.

By default, Acronis Online Backup will create an unlimited number of versions per file. However, you can limit maximum number in Online Backup Options -> Storage Cleanup:

You can find more information at the Chapter 5.3 of Acronis Standalone Online Backup User's Guide.

Please reply to this thread if you have any further questions.

Thank you.

Hi
Do these solutions still apply (on the march 14)

It seem on the FAQ page that verion are now limited to 45 days ?

Hello Marie,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you.

I would really appreciate if you could point to that FAQ page that mentions 45 days.

If you need additional help, please let me know.

Thank you.

HI Rob

As mentionned on other threads (19630), since las week, this 45 days (versionning maximum delay) it is written in full on Acronis online features page, as you can see there
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/online-backup/features.ht…
(recover multiple point in time section)

What is annoying is that I choosed Acronis Online especially because of the illimited versionning, and the ability to set it otherwhise if wanted, as explained in this thread.
http://forum.acronis.com/forum/10530

As one pay for 200gb storage, it (was) would be nice to have the choice (more versions or more new stuff).... And to maintain the option for illimited version, (as shown on the last link)

Thank you

This if for the 2015 version. I have a 500 GB HD backing up to a 3TB External HD. I do a full disk image backup once a month and C: drive backup daily. Nevertheless the 3 TB drive runs out of space because old backups remain on it. I know you are not supposed to delete old files manually so HOW DO I FREE UP SPACE?

Chafu, you should be configuring the automatic cleanup rules to control and remove older backup version chains according to your configured number of backup version chains, or the age of version chains.

You can delete old files manually using Windows Explorer but should be very careful in doing so to only delete complete version chains, as identified by the backup sequence number of the chain, i.e. all files having the same backup sequence number, such as _b4_ in the file name where all the files with this sequence are deleted.

When you delete files manually, you should then run a Validation for the backup task that created the deleted files so that the Acronis database files which stores information on the backup files can be reconciled to match the files that still exist and remove references to those that have been deleted.
