Problem with backed up archive

Thread needs solution

Hi my friends. I have a problem.

I have backed up Win7 x64 with whole partition with atih 2012 plus pack. After backup a few times i have restored this backup to other computers and i worked fine. But the last times when i try to restore this archive , in the process of restore it says that archive corrupted. But how is it possible if i restored this archive before with the same acronis disk.

What is the problem my friends?

Thanks.

"Corrupted" is, unfortunately, a rather non-specific error message, in spite of it's rather specific sounding term. It really just means that ATI can't validate the archive, which can be caused by disk errors or connection errors, rather than any problems with the .tib file itself.

Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.

I have tested with 2 ways.

Usualy i have backed up via lan from my second computer, but i have compyed archive to the cimputer's D drive from my computers, which i want to restore and then i have restored archive which located on the d drive. But the same think, the same problem.

But i dont understand. If this archive i have used and restored , what changed now, why it not restoring . I know that backup no changeable and we can't edit somethink on it. So, whats happen with it?

Drives can develop errors any time, so just because a drive worked perfectly yesterday is no guarantee that there aren't errors today.

I told you some possible reasons, and told you what to check.

I have backed up the drive when it was perfectly. Now i want to restore it to a new laptop, just 2 months used, but the same problem. I have installed windows from start on that laptop and i will backup drive and this drive have not any problem with ram and hdd.

Felo,

You stated that you copied the backup image file from your network connected (LAN) computer to the "D" drive and tried to do the restore.

If you still have the original backup image file on your LAN, you should use Acronis to validate the original backup image file.

If the file validates okay, the problem with the copied backup image file happened during the copy procedure. Normally a copy operation results in an exact copy of a file, but sometimes there is a small amount of corruption in the copy process and the file is not 100% accurate. If the copy is not 100% accurate, the backup image file will not be valid.

Ok my friends. But now i dont understand this. I have created another backup of drive , contains windows 7 x64. When i try to restore this backup, there is no universal restore option. I dont understand why? I have done backup and recovery with this ATIH 2012 PP disk. Why there is no universal restore option?

Thansk again.

Did you perform a full disk backup including ALL partitions on the drive?

No. As always i choosed c drive only , which contains windows. There is a d drive empty too.
