Problem backing up to FTP - TI 2011 Home
Hello all. TI Home v10 power user here, BartPE and all. Love it. Problem is it won't run on Windows 7. So I thought I'd give TI 2011 Home (latest version) a shot.
Wow, what a radical makeover they gave the user interface. I think I hate it.
Having a problem backing up to my FTP. Here are the steps I take:
1. choose disk and partition backup
2. choose partition to backup
3. choose the destination, in this case an FTP which connects successfully
4. name the backup
5. click backup now
Simple so far... Then I get an error message:
Cannot create folder ftp:\\myftp:21\destination-folder\.
I don't know if the period at the end is the end of the sentence or what.
I click OK and then get an error: Error occurred while creating the file.
My ftp server is part of my DNS-321 NAS (EXT2) which works perfectly with TI Home v10 on both Vista SP2 and XP SP3.
Is FTP on 2011 broken? I've read a few posts where others are having problems but didn't see a solution.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to get this to work.

Yes, I read that. I set up the FTP address, username, password and tested the connection successfully.
Maybe the answer is just to keep using v10 with XP and Vista til they carry me out feet first.

You should file a support ticket for your ftp experience. Several users have had issues with FTP and 2011.

Yeah... I think, like many other things in ATIH 2011, FTP is broken. I have set up several different FTP servers on different MFR's NAS boxes (Dlink DNS-323, QNAP TS-419P+) and get the same error in your OP.
Standard FTP clients (Filezilla, WinSCP, and win7 FTP command) all work flawlessly with these FTP servers.
I find it quite interesting that when setting up the FTP connection in Acronis, the "Test Connection" always works fine, but backups to it always fail. THis leads me to believe Acronis can't actually create the target file, so must be constructing the file name incorrectly.
Oh well... just another reason to abandon this ill-conceived program.
And while I'm on it... I still cannot figure out how to delete old no-longer-needed FTP connections from the FTP connection list in Acronis. Probably just a program "feature".
