Problem imaging Windows 98se disk
Quote:" Acronis True Image 11 Home also allows you to create a bootable cd that can back-up and restore a disk/ partition on a computer running any PC-based os"
I want to backup a pc with windows 98se and the disk I created won't work. The windows 98 pc keeps rebooting.
How do I create a disk for Win 98se and will it allow me to backup to a external usb hd?
TIA

Paul:
The disk you create is NOT for Win 98se, nor is it for any OS in particular. The OS on the PC is irrelevant because the CD runs its own operating system (it's Linux-based).
The issue you're experiencing is usually due to the lack of hardware driver support in the Linux OS for your particular hardware. You can try the following:
1. Try the advice in this post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/2995 under section II - Problems with Acronis rescue media....
2. When you created the boot CD did you also include the "Safe Media" version of TI? This will allow you to boot the CD into "safe" mode, which is DOS-based. You can download the Safe Media plugin from your account on the Acronis web site. Safe mode does not support USB devices, however, unless your PC's BIOS enumerates them at boot time. But it's worth a try.
3. Download the alternate loader boot media (ISOLINUX-based) from your account on the Acronis web site. Burn this ISO file to a CD and try booting your PC from it. It contains a bunch of different boot option choices, one of which may work with your hardware.

After creating a backup disk with "Safe Media" I was able to backup the c drive to a d drive. All appeared to be ok but when I verified the backup I got an error: E00070020 - The archive is corrupted.
Maybe an old version of Drive Image will work better.
