Problem mounting an image

I am using True Image Home 11.

I back up My Computer, Disks and Partitions, then exclude two directories containing archived data that doesn't get changed much. The backup works fine and I can restore individual files. However, I cannot mount the image. I can if I do not do any exclusions. Can anyone help.

Incidentally, the reason I am doing this is to save time and disk space. I really only want to back up the directories that I am changing on a daily basis. I have the archived data on my hard drive as a convenience to me. I back this data up also using a different task, but less frequently. If anyone has a better suggestion for a backup strategy, please let me know.
