Problem when restoring Acronis clone drive
Hi
Whenever I have to restore clone drive from backup hard drive (both main and backup are Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drives) only 3 programs cause problems.
They are:
Radar Contact in which becomes unregistered and I have to send away by email to get a new
license so that it can be re registered.
Flight 1 Ground Environment X license check fails requiring a full re installation and licence key applied.
Flight 1 Ultimate Traffic 2 license check invalid requiring a full re installation and license key applied.
I realize the above programs are compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X and I have other Flight 1 software installed which are not effected not to mention approx 100 flight simulator products and general
software programs which are installed on my computer and require registration , serial numbers to function correctly.
Extensive searching Google , this forum and Flight 1 forums have not been successful in finding a solution to the above problems.
Any advice/assistance would be appreciated.

Hi tuttle
Put another way I am cloning (ghosting) the contents of C drive to another drive which we will call D drive.
If I have a problem with C drive I then clone (restore ) D drive back onto original drive (C drive).
Works every time . 30 + minutes and computer is operating normally. It is only the 3 programs described
in my original post that cause problems when using Acronis. Prior to purchasing Acronis I used Macrium Reflect
and prior to that Norton Ghost. Neither of which caused the problem I am now experiencing with Acronis.

Noel,
Your problem is that the new disk has a different disk ID, so Windows changes it's links in registry and any program that looks to the disk ID as part of it's licensing checks will fail.

As you aren't intending to swap the backup drive with the original, Clone is not your best option here. Creating full disk Backups would be a better option. It would allow you to store multiple full backups on a single backup device, and Restore whichever one you want without the risks involved with Cloning.
