Problems accessing Cloud backup from iPad

I'm running cloud backup from my PC (ATI 2014) on Windows 7. On a few occasions I've tried to access files from my iPad (IPad 3 on iOS7) using Safari. It's a bit hit and miss. Takes a double click to select a sub-directory and often will not respond at all - very frustrating. Then I saw there was an Acronis app in the app store - hooray! Downloaded and ran it. Got a nice full screen white page with a box in the centre saying "Preparing - please wait". Well NINE hours later I'm still waiting. The iPad sat there with the app open (and the charger plugged in). I've tried closing & opening the app and powering off the iPad all to no avail. The iPad is sitting right next to my router and a speed test shows 27Mbits down and 6Mbits up so it's not a connection problem. What is it doing? Is there a fix or is the app not fit for purpose.

If I can't access files from my pad perhaps I need to try someone else's cloud backup.

Any advice would be appreciated.
