Problems with activating True Image 2014 on new PC, try this!!

Thread needs solution

Hello all. I had this problem an hour ago. I couldn't activate True Image 2014 on a new PC. I uninstalled it from the old first but still got the error. I contacted support via chat and they couldn't help me but I'm thankful for them for trying. I did manage to fix this myself, after the chat session was over, when an idea hit me. It worked!. I had to install True Image on my Win7 PC so I could make a new rescue disk with Disk Director due to the face that Disk Director will not install on my Win8.1 PC. After I had made the rescue disk, I uninstalled True Image so I could install it on my Win8.1 PC. It would not activate and got the "too many activations". I have done this in the past so I new I could "deactivate" my Win7 pc, or so I thought. I looked all over True Image for a deactivate link and there wasn't one to be found. I'm almost sure in the past that there was a link in your account profile to see your activations with the PC names that gave you the option to deactivate them. However, I can't find it. Anyway, this is how I fixed my activation problem.

1) Install a fresh copy of True Image 2014 on the PC you want to use it on. Don't run it just yet.
2) Disable or disconnect from the Internet. - !!! IMPORTANT !!!
3) Now run True Image.
4) Click on the question mark close to the top right. It should have "Help", "Generate System Report", "Customer Support", etc... but should have "Activate".
5) Click on activate and after a bit, you should get a box saying it failed to connect to the Acronis activation server. This is why you have to be offline.
6) Click "Activate from another computer". You should get a box with "How to activate the product from another computer".
7) At this point, enable or reconnect to the Internet.
8) Go to the link (http://www.acronis.com/en-us/activation).
9) Now copy and paste the install code from the first box in step 6 in the "Installation Code" box on the activation website. You can type a name in the next box if you want as it is optional.
10) You should get a message that the serial/license is used on another PC. Choose to move it. You will be required to log into your Acronis account. Click continue.
11) You should get an activation code. Copy and paste it in the second box on the "How to activate the product from another computer" box from step 6. Now click "Activate" and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps anyone else with this problem.
