Problems with DriveCleanser in ATI 2011
I recently installed ATI 2011 on a Dell notebook that had just been reloaded with a clean install of Windows XP Pro (sp3).
Using the initial build of ATI 2011, I had the following problems while trying to run DriveCleanser on an external, NTFS-formatted 250gb USB drive (the erase algorithm was set to 'fast'):
Interface:
Section 7.6.1.3 of the manual (p188) describes the possibility of selecting various Post-wiping actions: No action, Delete partition, Format. I did not see this screen. How do I access it?
Operation:
Once DriveCleanser started, the only indication the program was running was a small icon in the system tray. When I hovered my cursor over this icon it displayed "Acronis True Image Home: 0% complete" but the '0% complete' never changed! I tried right clicking on the icon and selecting Status but nothing displayed.
Although the program operating priority was set at "Normal" DriveCleanser completely hogged the CPU and it was virtually impossible to run other programs.
After letting the program run for about 4 hours I cancelled the operation. After this windows XP did not recognize the drive. But I could see it in the ATI interface: the NTFS formatting was gone and all the space on the drive was marked "unallocated". I had to use Partition Magic to access and reformat the drive.
After updating to the latest build of ATI 2011 I tried the process again with, unfortunately, similar results. I did not see the screen described in Section 7.6.1.3 of the manual, the icon in the system tray always displayed "0% complete", and when I cancelled the program, this time after half an hour, the NTFS formatting was once again gone and all the space on the drive was marked "unallocated".
Does DriveCleanser work or do I have a local problem on my PC and, if so, how can I correct it?
Thanks for your help,
Trip

Yes and no. - For the record, I had no porblem with this tool until I updated TIH 2011. I'm not sure which update caused this, but I'm currently on update 1 (build 6696)
I have the opposite of your problem - actually still going on this very second. I'm about to abort the "Drive Cleansing" which has been going on now for about 10 hourse.
I have an 2TB drive in a 3.0 USB dock which I have tried to run Acronis DriveCleanser packaged with TIH 2011 (I alsolhave the plus version but that doesn't mean anything in this case) -& for the second time now on the same drive and the same thing happened has happened (or is happenning).
My situation is different from yours.
I too only get a small icon in my sytem tray with a spinning arrow. When I place my cursor over this system tray icon, it tells me the % of completion. When you go to the home page of my 2011 TYIH Plus, this activity is not shown anywhere (i.e. a bar with a progress line and a little explanation on status). The only thing I get to check the status is the system tray icon described.
In my case, the % steadily goes up and reaches 100% in about ~4-5 hours, but it doesn't stop there. It keeps going until I get to 200%. At first I thought this may be niormal because I also have the "rformat drive" option checked in the "after wiped" section. I thought the first 100% was the DoD algorthym method destroying data& the second 100% (it actually goes over 100% all the way 200%) was the tool re-foratting the drive.
However today, I let it continue to go. After 200%, it starts all over back to 1%. I'm now at 135% again for a seconbd time.
During this entire time, something is being done to my 2TB External Hitachi Deskstar Sata I drive (3 Gb/s) in a diablotek USB 3.0 HDD docking station. It's extremely hot, the activity light is blinking and I hear it the gently crunching noise all SATA drives make when they a read and writing data - however, I have no idea what it is doing or if this will ever stop (at least autmoatically - I'm about to pull the plug - I may wait until it hits 200% again - and if it doesn't stop, then I'll cut the power or cancel it.)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I really liked this tool before I updated 2011 TIH.
Not sure if this forum (like others do) requires sytems setup info or not - so I'll give it anyway:
O/S: W7 64-bit
Processor: Core i7 950
Memory: 16GB
2011 Acronis True Image Home Plus - Update 1 6696
"C" Drive: 2 identical 1TB Sata II (6GB/s) Black WD Caviar drives in RAID 0 configuration"
"D" Drive: 1 Internal 2TB Seagate BarracudaXT Sata II 6GB/s (for file/data storage)
"E" Drive: 1 Internal drive: Hitachi Desktar -1TB SATA I (3.0GB/S) - for file, data, & some backup storage
"F" Drive: 1 External 2TB Sata I (3.0GB/s) drive in a diablotek USB 3.0 HDD Dock - used exlusivley for Acronis TIH 2011 Backups (this is the drive in question - I am trying for the second time to wipe the disk and re-formatting it using Acronis DriveCleanser.
What made this tool go "bad"? Or am I the one who is doing something wrong?
I have been usig 2011 TIH for about 6 months and have like it a lot and still do even with this "bug".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have just switched to ATI 2011 from ATI 2010 using a clean install and I get the same non display of a progress bar in the main screen. I just get the little icon at the bottom which is showing a change in status; currently 32%.
Using ATI 2010 the status screen also had an option to shutdown the PC upon completion of the job; ideal if you want to set this running overnight; this option is not available when using ATI 2011.
This option used to be available if you used Acronis Disk Director before version 11; now not supported; windows 7 requires disk director version 11.
I often use drive cleanser when I am gettig rid of an old drive; can I trust it is still working or do I have to get out the sledge hammer to destroy the disk platters.
I will be reverting back to ATI 2010 until this problem is fixed.
Thanks
Andy

Having same problem with no progress bar or any indication at all that Drive Cleanser is running, although HD led suggests it is. Will have to go back to East-Tec Eraser, simple and works.
Purchased TIH 11 and Plus Pack to have everything in one place. Disappointed!

This problem (no DriveCleanser progress is shown), is still evident on my TrueImage 2012 Update 2. It's nearly two years since this issue was raised. Will it ever be fixed?

Still running into this problem on Win7 64-bit with TIH2012, Update 2.1, Build 7133 with plus pack. I've got a drive that has been running all night and is now at 203%. I can't cancel or abort it either.
It also just updated to this version yesterday when I started to run it, requested a reboot before starting Drive Cleanser, then when Windows came up, it told me it was not a genuine copy of windows. Took 1 hour on the phone with Microsoft tech support to resolve the validation issue, requiring a flush of the %temp% and prefetch directories, and a "slmgr -rearm". I don't know if this was due to TIH, Drive Cleanser, or the KB2670838 Platform Update pushed yesterday, though that seems unlikely.
