Question about Disk Cloning with True Image

Thread needs solution

Before investing too much time and financial resources, I have a quick question I hope can be answered about True Image.

I will be getting multiple new computers this year (haven't purchased yet) at the same time that are the exact same model and specs. I would like to build up 1 of the machines to mydesire, complete with drivers, software applications, and certain hardware/network settings. Then make an image of this build and put it on the other machines either through a bootable media disk or using a network HDD.

Can True Image do this successfully?

Hello Adam,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your question. I will certainly help you with it.

Yes, Acronis True Image 2011 Home can do this successfully. Instead of cloning though, I would recommend creating a backup file instead because cloning creates a mirror image of the disk and a backup is stored as an archive which can be more stored more conveniently. You can check our KB article for more information about the difference.

You can either install the program on one of the computers, or use the bootable CD without installing the program.

The backups can be stored on a network HDD or an external USB drive.

Then, when a new machine comes along you can simply boot it from the bootable media and recover the image. Since the hardware is identical, there is no need for Acronis Universal Restore.

Please note, that according to our licensing policy, you will need 1 serial number for each computer where Acronis True Image 2011 Home is used.

If you need additional references, you can always refer to this KB article that has all the information about Acronis True Image 2011 Home.

We have a trial version available here, it is functional for 30 days and we offer technical support for the duration of the trial period. You can test and see how it runs on your system, create the bootable media and test that it boots fine and can restore the image. The trial version of the bootable media is limited to recovery operations only.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
