Question about sector sizes and cloning

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I need some advise on upgrading disks, in a older Synology Nas.

I need to upgrade my two 500 gb HD501LJ harddrives to two 2 tb HD204UI.

Is it possible to clone the disks directly, considering different sector sizes.

If not should I use a different cloning utility, or is there another procedure to follow.

Something with alignment

Hope the question makes sense.

best regards.

Instead of Clone, you should make a full disk mode Backup to an external drive. You would then restore from that backup archive to the new drive, at which point you would be able to adjust partition sizes. Check out the various guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum.

But if I want to clone is it possible to clone form a512b sector size that is 320GB TO a 4096b sector size that is a 500GB hard drive I have great success cloning 512 to 512 it takes 50mins the cloning software I used to clone doesn't work with the 4096 I am going to try the30day trail Unlimited version of true image do you know if this can be done in this version it seems your way has afew more steps thanks
