Question 'bout Upgrading

Thread needs solution

OK, so I just purchased the new 2010 version...

Should I un-install the old version completely
before installing the new version?

When you upgrade, are you downloading
the full version that doesn't not require the
previous version to be installed when installing
the new version?

I always like to do fresh, full installs so I
thought I'd ask because I'm planning on
wiping out the old version, including deleating
all registry entries from the previous version.

Rockrz:

Yes, it's best to uninstall the old version first.

An upgrade purchase is simply a discount given to owners of old versions. The download is a complete copy of the new version and can be clean-installed. However, upgrade versions will ask you for the serial numbers of both the new version and the old version, so have your old serial number handy.

Check this forum for instructions for updating the Windows drivers (SnapAPI drivers) in TI 2010 - there are problems with the SnapAPI drivers furnished with the program that cause issues with Windows 7. You need to separately download the fixed drivers and install them after installing the program. http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5475?page=5#comment-14801

Hello all!

Thank you for posting that questions and thanks K0LO for comments!

Mark is correct almost in most statements, but I just would like to add that there is no need in following instructions described in this comment as far as it is required only for the cases when you faced issues SnapAPI drivers: usually everything is installed fine.

So in case you would like to perform absolutely clean install and you are not sure that Add and Remove programs will uninstall the previous version totally, I would advise you to perform manual uninstallation as described in this article.

But anyway I'm positive everything will go just fine, so should you have any questions or concerns - feel free to share them with us!

Thank you!
