Question on "Last Resort Cleanup" post

Thread needs solution

In this forum post ( http://forum.acronis.com/forum/26439 ) the author states this 'warning':

"Registered services MUST NOT be removed prior to removal of device class filter entries. Driver files MUST NOT be removed prior to removal of registered services entries."

Can someone clarify the difference between in the registry files ( regedit ) entries:

Registered services
device class filter entries
Driver files

Thanks...TRinAz

I can help a little, driver files are *.sys files that provide the instructions that allow you hardware to work with diff software--it's how the two worlds meet, so to speak.

Registered services are usually entries in the Registry for *.dll files that operate on call or in background performing various activities (services) on the PC.

Device Class filter entries refers to Registry entries for files that control drive operations -- see, e.g., http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filter_driver
