A question of reliability for recovery operations

I've recently moved from Acronis True Image 10 to version 2010. Normally, all volume images I make are originally created/saved on a physical hard drive. Once completed I burn those image modules to a set of DVD-R disks using CD Burner XP Pro ( *also verify burn integrity ).
The problem I'm running into is if I need to recover and copy the .tib from DVD-R back to a hard drive almost all the operations related to recovery or convert to Windows backup FAIL. I've tried this on at least 3 different PCs with different optical drives.
This is not an isolated problem and this almost never happened with version 10 of TI.
Is there a known issue with Recovery. Currently I'm very concerned that all of my DVD-R image sets are unusable.
