Questions about One Click Protection Acronis Home 9

Thread needs solution

I am at risk I know of posting in the wrong forum at the wrong time etc - but please bear with me and direct me to the correct forum if necessary. I am going around in circles! I have read through the users manual, asked several pc experts – but still I have come to a blank (I’m not blond!) I have far too much software available to me with this package – I simply want to press 1 button, once a month to back up my entire PC. I have made the reboot disc (x2 now!) and I have an external HD. I am getting confused as to why the One Click Protection is not starting – I get a quick flash of message in red script – but it doesn’t stay up long enough for me to read it. I have previously (months and months ago) completed a backup with one click – but what I really need to know is – does the One Click take a complete disk image – or should I be changing the settings each time – does it do it incrementally or differentially. Should I not use One Click and do a normal computer back up using the wizard? I would hate to be in a position where I need to reinstall everything from what I thought was a complete system backup with all my email data, documents, videos, music, and program files – only to find out that I have done the wrong backup.. Hope I haven’t waffled on too much and you understand my queries. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Hello Norah,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
The Acronis One-Click Protection tool performs only full backups of the system volume, scheduling an incremental or differential backup is not possible. To get the access to the One-Click Protection settings please launch the program -> Tools -> One-click Protection. You will see the appropriate program window and will be able to change the settings.
To find the exact reason of the software malfunction we need the log file of the failed operation.
- Launch the program;
- Tasks and logs, Log;
- Choose the log entry which contains errors and make right-click on it;
- Select save option and specify the desired location for the log file to save to;
- Attach the log file to your next post.
If the conditions of the One-Click Protection task do not satisfy your needs, you can create a task with the desired settings and run it using a shortcut.
1. Create a "simple" backup task specifying the desired options (you can select incremental mode, you can add validation, etc).
2. Please create a text document by means of Notepad. Place the following string inside of it:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageHomeService.exe" /script:"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts\CURRENT SCRIPT.tib.tis"
Please note that in Windows Vista/7 the appropriate tib.tis file is located at C:\Users\All Users\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts, so, if you use these operating systems, you should modify the text document respectively.
3. Find the following path at your computer: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts (for Windows XP) or C:\Users\All Users\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts (for Windows Vista/7).
4. Find the script that you created just now. Copy the appropriate value (for example, B44A95F2-BA29-43C3-9F88-C2F566E5BCC1) and place it into the Notepad document instead of "CURRENT SCRIPT".
5. Save the file to your desktop and rename it. The file should have .bat extension.
6. Click on the shortcut to run the task.
Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
