Queston about universal restore,need help!!!

Thread needs solution

Hi.I have WinXP archive.I have dont in with partition backup, not with file backup. My partition size was 120GB.I whant restore archive to my friend's PC via universal restore, and her partition size was 180GB.

One time i have archive, and i restored it to her computer (not via universal restore, and worked), but her partition size becomed 120GB and 60 GB becomed unlocated.

So, now i whant to restore archive via universal restore. If i do, does her partition size will be change 120GB, or it will stay 180GB.

Please ask me.Thanks very much.

Is your problem only that you have 60GB unallocated? If yes, you don't need another restore to fix that.

Right click on the my computer icon, choose manage, go to storage, disk management. If the unallocated space is the last block of disk to the right, simply right click on the last partition if it is C:\system and choose expand.

Yes, partition size becomed 120GB, becouse my part. size was 120GB
You whant ask, that i can merege partitions? Yes?
Good idea my friend, but i whant know, that when i restore archive via universal restore, partition size will become 120GB, or no.

Universal restore if only to restore an image to a different computer. If you restore to a different disk on the same computer, you do not need Universal Restore.

Yes i know brother. I whant to restore my partition archive to my friend's PC, which part. size was 180 GB (my part. was 120GB). If i restore my part arcive (120GB) to my friends's PC (180GB), her part. size will become 120GB? and 60GB unlocated, or it will be stay 180GB.

OK. When you restore on the other computer, using the Universal Restore, you will have 2 options:
- restore the entire disk in one swoop, this will create the unallocated space. Then, when the computer boots, you can extend the partition to recapture the unallocated space,
- restore one partition at a time. ATI will let you resize any partition you want. Remember not to resize any recovery, OEM or "system reserved" partition. Only C:\system or any user defined partition. Remember to mark active the correct partition.
