Raid 5 Questions

Thread needs solution

I have searched for this topic, and I can't find anything really relevant.

I have Acronis True Image Home 2011 with the Plus Pack and they are version 6696.
What I want to do is take my non-Raid Windows 7 (64 bit) and set it up on a Raid 5. Currently, I have Windows on a 160gb SATA drive, and I have 2 identical 160gb SATA drives and I want to combine all three into a RAID 5.

I have made a backup of my current OS drive and I would like to restore that to the reconfigured Raid 5 but I am not sure that True Image Home 2011 with the Plus Pack supports restoring from a non-Raid to a Raid 5. Can anyone tell me if I can restore a non-Raid to a Raid 5 and will True Image than be able to back up a Raid 5?

Any help, advice, or examples would be greatly appreciated.

The key point to answer this question is whether the bootable CD will see your RAID-5 set up as a single disk. I don't expect it to see it if you have a software RAID, but you should try.

If you see a single disk, then you can *then* try to Universal Restore your image on the RAID5. YOu will need the driver of your RAID controller in an uncompressed form available when you use the CD to restore.

About the backup, it will be easier for ATI because you can backup from within Windows. But what's the point if you can restore to it afterwards (hence my point about the need to see the RAID from the CD).
