Re: Imaging a remote machine using True Image Echo Workstation
Hi All,
Just two questions I cannot find an answer on in this kbase.
(1) I have a desktop machine and laptop both connected to a home network. I have shared the C drive of the laptop so the desktop machine can access it's files.
Can I use Acronis (True Image Eco Workstation, build 8163) that is running on the desktop machine to make an image of the laptop - or can I only backup the shared drive (files & folders) on the laptop?
(a) So my generic question is: can True Image perform images of remote machines over a network - or can it only backup files & folders on remote machines?
(b) So does this mean I must install Acronis on my laptop as well if I want to make regular images of the laptop?
(2) When currently backing up the laptop C drive from the desktop machine using Acronis I get errors on some files stating "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". The full error from my log is listed below.
My question being: is this related to trying to backup the whole C drive instead of just the data files (eg; Word, Excel, pdf, etc) - and would disappear if I installed Acronis on the laptop itself to then backup the C drive?
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Paul.
PS: I'm running Win XP Pro SP2.
